Designer's Note

"Lunar New Year, of all things, if anything, is the peculiar sensation of running my hands over the old tiled walls at my grandmother’s home during each familiar springtime gathering. This design is an intimate manifestation of that — of tradition, of memory — a vessel carrying precious things through time."

Behind The Tradition

Atmosphere Classic Red Envelope

In many East and Southeast Asian cultures, during the Lunar New Year, red envelopes containing crisp, new notes are exchanged as symbols of abundance and good fortune. Throughout the year, they are also given on other significant occasions, such as weddings and birthdays. Whether given alone or alongside other gifts, the act of giving a red envelope honours the tradition of sharing blessings and nurtures the bonds of family and community.
