"The versatility of Sandalwood in contemporary fragrances poses a paradox: known, but not quite fully understood. Autonym is our attempt to examine alternative dimensions and olfactory outcomes of this well-established raw material."
A Sandalwood incense, long assumed familiar, yet rendered unlike anything before, in delicate balance with Patchouli, Vetiver, and an in-house aromatic blend. Amber and earth, wood and herb, now, all at once. An inaugural olfactory work signed by Atmosphere under its own name.

After burning, the fragrance may remain present for several hours to a full day, depending on the specific blend and the environmental dynamics of your space. Formulations heavier in base notes typically offer the greatest longevity.
This duration is also influenced by your interior. Intimate spaces with minimal airflow and porous materials, such as wood and natural textiles, tend to hold the incense longer.
When inhaling a burning incense stick up close, especially just after ignition, the initial burst of smoke can overwhelm the nose. This may also cause olfactory fatigue, making it harder to perceive the fragrance that follows.
We suggest maintaining a distance of at least 2 metres and allowing the scent to diffuse gently through the room before enjoying the incense. If you are new to incense as a medium, a patient approach is recommended, as the nose requires time to adjust and distinguish the nuances within each blend.
The Autonym Ambient Incense Stick is formulated with controlled smoke output and calibrated fragrance load, and may be used around pets in shared domestic environments. However, as respiratory sensitivity varies across species and individual pets, we recommend consulting your veterinarian before use where appropriate.
Yes. All formulations offered by Atmosphere can be used in an air-conditioned room. For the best experience, ensure proper airflow and regular ventilation to keep the air fresh. Avoid placing the incense too close to direct vents or strong air currents, as this can affect burn time and fragrance dispersion.
Most incense does not have a fixed expiry date. Under typical daily use, with exposure to humidity, hand contact, and temperature fluctuations, we recommend using the incense within 12 months of opening for optimal fragrance quality.
If you intend to preserve select incense for extended maturation, we recommend doing so in a climate-controlled environment. For tailored guidance on the long-term preservation of rare pieces, please consult our Atmosphere Curators →.
You may notice slight variation in stick counts across some products, particularly in larger packs. This arises from traditional production methods used by selected heritage incense makers, where items are hand-packed and measured by weight rather than by individual stick count. As such, stick counts are provided as an estimate rather than an exact figure.
